A man’s body has been recovered from an area of flooding in North Yorkshire on a “miserable Monday” across the UK that included travel chaos, power cuts and school closures.
The Met Office said there was no immediate prospect of respite from the wintry weather with yellow warnings put in place until Wednesday.
